North Melbourne's AFLW preliminary final against Port Adelaide received a significant uplift with the triumphant comeback of their captain, Emma Kearney, from a debilitating injury. Kearney, 35, sustained a severe hamstring rupture in a match against Richmond on September 29th. This sidelined her for six matches, preventing her participation in North's qualifying final victory over Adelaide a couple of weeks prior. However, following a successful fitness evaluation on Wednesday, the dynamic, swift, and adept half-back has been given the all-clear to participate in the contest against the Power at Ikon Park this Saturday. The eight-time All-Australian will offer indispensable guidance and impetus from the defensive line.
"Emma will participate in this weekend's match after demonstrating excellent fitness in Wednesday's morning training session," stated North Melbourne women's football director Erin Lorenzini. "Her commitment to the team is commendable, with Emma employing every means to return during the finals series while concurrently providing unwavering support from the sidelines. "We eagerly anticipate the benefit of her expertise and leadership in such a pivotal match." North Melbourne, the minor premiers, aim for a coveted premiership title after narrowly missing out in last year's grand final. Simultaneously, Brisbane and Adelaide will contend for a grand final berth in the other preliminary final on Saturday evening.
