Contemporary popular culture showcases inspiring LGBTQ+ figures—such as YouTube star JoJo Siwa, who came out at 17, or Zaya Wade, the transgender daughter of Siohvaughn Funches and Dwyane Wade, who (according to her father) has understood her gender identity since age 3. Despite ongoing societal prejudice, progress is evident.
However, many individuals don't fully grasp their sexual orientation at a young age. Furthermore, numerous celebrities have discussed concerns about professional repercussions, media criticism, or estrangement from loved ones if they publicly reveal their true identities.
Consequently, several public figures, including Tommy Dorfman and Wayne Brady, have disclosed their orientations later in life. For them, embracing their authentic selves seems empowering and liberating.

“If I needed a label now, I’d choose ‘free’,” Nash added.
We applaud these stars for their courage in sharing their true selves and inspiring others to do the same—at any age, living authentically is paramount. See the individuals who revealed their identities later in life below!
