According to multiple sources, Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly have parted ways shortly after revealing their expectant parenthood.
TMZ initially broke the story on December 10th, reporting the couple's separation during a Thanksgiving getaway in Vail, Colorado. Us Weekly corroborated the report the same day, citing a source close to the pair.
An informant told Us Weekly that reconciliation attempts following the pregnancy announcement were unsuccessful due to their volatile temperaments and persistent disagreements. Although currently estranged, a future reunion remains a possibility.
Their split follows their November 11th Instagram pregnancy announcement, nearly a year after disclosing a previous miscarriage.
The child, expected in March or April, will be the 38-year-old Transformers star's fourth offspring. She has three sons—Noah, Bodhi, and Journey—with her former spouse, Brian Austin Green. Kelly, 34, is father to a teenage daughter, Casie.
Fox and Kelly forged a connection during the filming of 2021's Midnight in the Switchgrass. Their relationship's intensity was evident from the outset, a characteristic that defined their four-year journey. They became engaged in 2022, separated the following year, but eventually rekindled their romance.
Speculation regarding Fox and Kelly's romantic involvement ignited when they were seen together publicly during the pandemic in Los Angeles. Confirmation swiftly followed that Fox and Green had quietly ended their decade-long marriage, and Fox and Kelly's relationship was made known.
Upon learning of Kelly's casting opposite her in Randall Emmett's suspense film, Fox sensed impending significant events, though the nature remained unclear.
In a shared interview, Kelly recounted waiting near his trailer, hoping for a glimpse of Fox. "She would exit her car, and there were just several steps between the car and trailer. I simply remained there, hoping."
Fox described Kelly as her "twin flame," a term she considered surpassing the definition of "soulmate."
She explained, "The moment I encountered him, greeted him, and met his gaze, I instantly recognized him as what I term a twin flame. Unlike a soulmate, a twin flame represents a soul that has ascended to a level where it can exist in two separate bodies concurrently. We are essentially two halves of the same soul, I believe. I conveyed this to him almost immediately, because the sensation was instantaneous."
Kelly and Fox made their first joint red-carpet appearance at the 2020 American Music Awards. Fox introduced Kelly's performance of "Bloody Valentine"—a music video featuring her—and "My Ex's Best Friend."
In a collaborative interview for British GQ Style, the couple disclosed a prior encounter years before the film, at a Los Angeles gathering, but without mutual recognition.
Fox stated, "I don't recall your face. ...And I certainly would have remembered his face." "I remember a tall, blond, ethereal figure. I looked up and said, 'You smell like marijuana.' He looked down at me and replied, 'I am marijuana.' Then, I swear, he vanished like a ninja in a smoke screen."
Fox suggested their prior meeting was not meant to be.
She explained, "We weren't destined to cross paths that evening; our spirits, our guides, were steering us apart, because he literally lacked a face, like that creature from Spirited Away. It's generally difficult to make out his features, but he truly had no face that night." Addressing Kelly, she added, "Thankfully, [because] what torment would I have endured knowing you were present and unreachable. It was preferable to remain unaware."
Fox also addressed their "very intense relationship."
She stated, "Our souls selected this path to confront our darker selves; to face aspects of ourselves we preferred to ignore, that we attempted to suppress."
Kelly added that they would "endure hardship together" and characterized their relationship as "both ecstasy and agony."
He concluded, "I don't want people to assume everything is flawless between us. I didn't label it the darkest fairytale for nothing. God help you if you encountered us last Saturday."
The musician proposed to Fox at a significant location in Puerto Rico.
She wrote on Instagram, "We were oblivious to the challenges we would face together in such a brief, hectic period. Unaware of the effort and compromises the relationship would demand from us but intoxicated by the affection. And the karma. Somehow a year and a half later, having traversed difficulties together, and having laughed more than I ever imagined possible, he proposed marriage." "And just as in every lifetime before this one, and as in every lifetime that will follow it, I said yes. …and then we drank each other's blood."
Following a significant disagreement during Super Bowl weekend, Fox removed images of her fiancé from Instagram. The actress subsequently deleted her profile entirely, after sharing lyrics from a Beyoncé song about infidelity. Sources reported to Yahoo Entertainment that the couple experienced a major setback.
One insider stated, "They've had numerous ups and downs throughout their relationship, but this one appears serious."
A second source close to the musician concurred: "This certainly isn't their first major disagreement. They usually manage to resolve their conflicts."
Multiple media sources reported the termination of their engagement.
Several months later, reports emerged that they were working on their relationship.
A source claimed, "They are back together. They have sought therapy." "Things aren't entirely back to normal, however."
The actress appeared on Good Morning America, where she discussed experiencing a difficult miscarriage.
She stated, while promoting her poetry book Pretty Boys Are Poisonous, "I've never encountered anything like that before. I have three children, so it was extremely challenging for both of us."
Fox continued, "It propelled us on an extraordinary journey—together and apart, repeatedly—navigating its meaning and cause."
Fox confirmed for the first time that she and Kelly had ended their engagement in 2023 and subsequently reunited. However, she revealed on the Call Her Daddy podcast that after being excessively open about their romance, she and the musician now intended to maintain greater privacy.
Fox told Cooper, "I believe I've learned from this relationship that it’s unsuitable for public consumption." "So presently, I won't comment on the relationship's status. I can confirm that he is what I consider my 'twin soul,' and a connection will always exist, regardless of circumstances."
Fox stated she "can't definitively describe the nature of the bond, but I will perpetually be linked to him in some way."
She added, "Beyond that, I'm unwilling to elaborate." "All those things you mentioned accurately depict events. I can see how they might appear confusing or intriguing, prompting questions like, ‘What's happening?’”
In an Instagram post, the 38-year-old actress announced her pregnancy. "Nothing is ever truly lost. welcome back," she wrote with angel and heart emojis. Fox tagged Kelly. The caption references lyrics from Kelly's song "Last November," which addresses the loss of the previous pregnancy.
Less than a month after their pregnancy announcement, TMZ reported the couple's separation over Thanksgiving. According to the outlet, Fox discovered something upsetting on Kelly's phone. (In February 2023, a similar incident allegedly occurred, involving DMs and texts on Kelly's phone, according to Page Six.) Us Weekly confirmed Fox and Kelly's parting. A source told the publication that the volatile pair frequently clashed and struggled to find common ground. The informant added, "Their co-existence is not straightforward."
But is it a temporary or permanent separation? We will have to wait and see.
